Stonehenge: new discoveries
Archaeological excavations led by Professor Mike Parker Pearson of Sheffield University have uncovered new evidence of when and why Stonehenge was built. Since 2003, Parker Pearson has led a multi-university team working on a Neolithic settlement inhabited by the builders of Stonehenge. They have also found the remains of a hitherto unknown stone circle in close proximity to Stonehenge. The results of the Stonehenge Riverside Project have attracted attention from all over the world and have earned it the award of Archaeological Research Project of the Year.
