An ancient ozone catastrophe ?

Discover the power of plants in revealing Earth history. The ozone hole over Antarctica has long been regarded as unique and an iconic symbol of humankind¹s damage to the environment. Now by piecing together varied lines of evidence, scientists believe it had an ancient precedent during one of the greatest mass extinction events of all time, 251 million years ago. David Beerling will look out how the evidence fits into place and the crucial role plants have played in leading us to this conclusion. These findings and others are published in his latest book, The Emerald Planet (Oxford University Press), described by The Guardian as OEA beautifully detailed account...a gorgeous book.
