Infantile amnesia versus infant memory
Do early experiences have a long lasting impact on behaviour? Think back to your childhood. Can you remember anything about those formative first years of life? Chances are your first memory is from when you were no younger than 2 or 3 years of age ^ a phenomenon referred to as infantile amnesia. What does this mean for understanding memory processing during infancy? In this talk we will explore how memory abilities are studied in infants and what has been discovered about how infants? learn and remember, and why they forget. Can these findings help us understand why, as adults, we can?t recall those first years of life? |
